At LanzaSense, we tell you everything you need to know to discover this natural wonder safely and responsibly.

What exactly are Las Grietas? Although you might think they are faults caused by an earthquake, Las Grietas are actually three crevices carved over centuries by rainwater erosion on the solidified basaltic lava layers of Montaña Blanca. Walking through its main corridor, with vertical walls several meters high, you can clearly see the different layers of historical eruptions. It's the perfect backdrop for unforgettable photos!

Where are they and how to park (Important!) They are located in the geographic center of the island, right next to the LZ-35 road, between San Bartolomé and Tías.

  1. You will see a dirt clearing on the side of the road where vehicles are usually parked.
  2. LanzaSense Safety Tip: Be very careful with the traffic on the LZ-35 when entering or leaving the parking area.
  3. Once parked, do not cross the road from above. Use the small underground tunnel to safely reach the start of the trail.

Practical tips for your visit

  1. 💰 Price: It is completely free!
  2. Best time to go: We advise going early in the morning or late in the afternoon to avoid the heat and the crowds.
  3. 👟 Footwear: Wear sneakers or closed shoes, as the ground has loose volcanic gravel (rofe).
  4. 💧 Hydration: There are no facilities around, so bring your own water bottle.
  5. 🌍 Responsible Tourism: Lanzarote is a Biosphere Reserve. Please do not leave trash or take volcanic rocks as souvenirs.

How much time do I need? Exploring Las Grietas will take you no more than 30 to 45 minutes. After the visit, you are just a step away from the famous wine region of La Geria, ideal for rewarding yourself with a glass of volcanic Malvasia.
